Owner and captain Marc Blackburn is all about living life with no regrets. A life-changing experience on a fishing boat at age 14 set his life on a course he didn’t even know he was passionate about. A family beach vacation to Fort Meyers, Florida included a fishing boat charter that ultimately yielded 1400 pounds of grouper caught by his family. “The captain told us to stop as he could not hold any more fish,” recalled Marc. “That is when I decided I wanted to be a fishing charter captain.” He earned his captain’s license at 19 and has been living out his dream for the last 35 years. Marc and his wife Wendy took an opportunity to work at a charter business in the USVI owned by the man behind OtterBox and Life- Proof cell phone cases, Kurt Richardson. That business was Ocean Surfari. After a few years of working as team members, they decided to purchase the business, growing it into one of the most successful charter companies in the Virgin Islands.
The Do It All adventure includes snorkeling, pizza, and a sunset cruise! Hop aboard their 47-foot power catamaran where guests will have two snorkel stops, eat fresh-baked pizza, and enjoy an open bar sunset cruise all in one trip. Other boating and snorkeling adventures include trips to the National Park and a day trip to Jost Van Dyke, the home of the famous Foxy’s and Soggy Dollar Bar. Ocean Surfari’s private fishing charters accommodate up to 6 passengers with 4, 6, 8, and 10-hour options. Their inshore bottom fishing trips offer guests the opportunity to experience saltwater fishing action at a lower cost for small parties and single anglers. Fish deep water reefs in 60 to 130 feet of water near St. Thomas (minimum of 4 guests needed for a trip). Their Jeep Surfari custom tour takes guests to hidden treasures on St. Thomas and St. John, trails, historical ruins, and secluded beaches off the beaten paths, led by a friendly and knowledgeable guide.
Ocean Surfari believes in giving back! Their “Let’s Make A Difference” campaign supports Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, the philanthropic, nonprofit partner of the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, USVI. When guests book a trip or buy one of their special shirts, Ocean Surfari makes a $5 donation to one of the following based on your selection: Youth Program, Sea Turtle Program, or Coral Reef Program. They donated more than $46,000 in 2023 and have set a goal of $60,000 in 2024.
