With an expansive selection of authentic shipwreck coins and themed gift items, this two-story 7,200 square foot Shipwreck Museum prides itself on showcasing this bounty of treasures from the world-famous deep-ocean discoveries of Odyssey Marine Exploration.
Dive in the fascinating tales of pirate legends as you wade through the museum that incorporates history and interactive exhibits, immersing visitors in the world of pirates and the deep-ocean exploration technology used to recover treasures that were once thought to be lost forever. With nine exhibits to explore, plus a thorough history of the U.S. Virgin Islands, guests are guaranteed to be entertained for up to two hours at this one-of-a-kind attraction. The Pirate Weapons exhibit highlights the various weapons, incendiary devices, and tactics pirates used to get what they wanted. Learn about the many shipwrecks that surround the Virgin Islands with the interactive map and artifacts recovered from shipwrecks in the area. Some artifacts featured in the Virgin Islands Shipwreck exhibit include an extensive collection of china from the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, a large demijohn, concreted coal and pipes, and octant used for navigation. Those curious about the pirate folklore of St. Thomas will receive thrilling insight to this part of the island’s history, like the fact that St. Thomas was once a haven for Blackbeard the Pirate and many other significant swaggerers. Visitors may be in for a treat when lively characters like “Captain John” appear out-of-the-blue dressed in full pirate regalia to share tales of long ago.
