ST THOMAS — Step into a secret garden at St. Thomas’ newest restaurant, The SeaGrape. Locally owned and operated, The SeaGrape is located on the waterfront in downtown Charlotte Amalie boasting a lush indoor garden décor complete with trees and soft lighting, Danish brick stonewalls, an elevated bar and intimate seating.

Owners Paul Lockhart and Kennisha Prince felt it was time for something new and exciting restaurant on the St. Thomas culinary scene. Lockhart, born and raised on St. Croix, moved to St. Thomas in 2018. His daily commute traveling from the Cyril E. King Airport would reveal a hurricane ravaged building that once operated as a former Pizza Hut. He thought it would be the perfect spot for a highend casual restaurant, not only because of its waterfront location and historic importance but also the adjacent parking lot. After a year of renovations that were hindered due to supply chain delays courtesy of the pandemic, The SeaGrape officially opened to the public on March 30th, 2023.

“The Food, The Cocktails, THE EXPERIENCE” is the header found on The SeaGrape’s menu. With appetizer options like the SeaGrape Sliders made with johnny cake rolls and fresh lobster meat and lamb chimichurri, one can’t help but salivate when pouring over the menu. Head Chef Shaquille Ralph is responsible for the delectable dishes that flow out of The SeaGrape’s kitchen. Born and raised in St. Thomas, Ralph moved back to the island from Miami, FL and found a home at The SeaGrape. The restaurant combines American and Caribbean cuisine influenced by the savory flavors of the Virgin Islands. Their Sunday brunch menu adds a Virgin Islands twist to traditional brunch dishes like oxtail and grits, lobster benedicts and coquito French toast. The cocktail menu features colorful, flavorful cocktails that highlight the best of St. Thomas. Try the Rock City Fire, the Frenchtown 75 or one of the multiple options on their extensive martini list.

The SeaGrape is located on the waterfront in downtown Charlotte Amalie at 21 Dronningens Gade. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 3pm to 1am; Sunday from 10am to 4pm for brunch only. The kitchen closes at 11:00pm each day, with the exception on Sundays. For more information, visit their Facebook page or call (340) 715-5928 for reservations.
