Chris Klein is from New Orleans where Jazz was born, and blues and soul have deep roots. But this week he’ll share is musical talents with us on St. Croix for his CD Release Tour.
I have a great affinity towards music of the Caribbean – of Puerto Rico, of Cuba, of Jamaica, of the Virgin Islands – all of which take part in defining the music I play, and write.
Klein is a songwriter and singer, and plays harmonica, flute and saxophone. In his bio he says the word that best sums up the music he plays is: REAL. “I don’t sing a song unless I believe in it.”
His newest CD tells stories of Louisiana life, love, loss, and loneliness. Klein and his band mates retreated to a home on the Mississippi River in Natchez, where they recorded 14 songs in three days. Klein expresses that he feels honored to be in the company of world-class talent. “I am honored to be in that number, and am exceptionally grateful to share the stage with them.”
The Chris Klein & the Boulevards CD Release Tour, featured on Coldwell Banker’s St. Croix Calendar, describes the band as “NEWORLEANSJAZZBLUESOULFOUNQUE.” You can get a taste of Chris Klein’s music on his SoundCloud page and maybe you’ll score a CD at one of the band’s shows on St. Croix.
