To our fellow islanders in Hawaii,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected by Kilauea Volcano. As islanders ourselves, we understand what it is like to have an immense sense of love for the place we call home and know how heartbreaking it can be when faced with adversity.
Recently, we found ourselves in a similar situation. What came from it was a remarkable uprising of resilience and community that has us feeling stronger than ever. We wish the same for our fellow island dwellers.
We are grateful to hear that there has been no loss of life to date due to Kilauea. Though the volcano may be changing the landscape, the island spirit seems to remain strong. We’re sending our love and wishes of safety and strength from one “Big Island” to another.
Love,
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
