The Crucian Christmas Festival committee has announced this year’s live music line-up, which kicks off today, Tuesday, December 26! We’ve added the performances to our St. Croix Calendar for an easy reference to all of the great live music happening during this festive time of year!
On this 65th anniversary, the festival theme is We Ga’ Festival Fever and the name of the festival village is Irmaria Stress Free Zone. The committee is dedicating this year’s festival to all the relief and recovery workers, and organizers will also be honoring some of our Virgin Islands heroes.
The Irmaria Stress Free Zone village is made up of colorful booths selling local food, drinks, arts and crafts. The children’s village includes rides, games, prizes and sweet treats. Booths are open all evening into the wee hours of the morning.
J’ouvert, a tradition from Trinidad, is on January 3. Participants are encouraged to gather at 5am at Hannah’s Rest Corner to dance through the streets until a few hours after sunrise. Anyone can join in on the fun and follow the musicians. The Food, Arts & Crafts Fair will follow on the same day at the Eliza McBean Clock Tower beginning at noon.
The children and adult’s parade will take place on January 6 with a scheduled start time of 10am. The parade starts at the Claude O. Markoe School and will proceed down King Street to the Village area.
The Festival Village is staged in the parking lot near the Paul E. Joseph Stadium and will last until January 6.
