The St. Croix team won the tournament hosted on home turf.

Coldwell Banker’s Diane Burns was one of 10 golfers on the St. Croix host team of the Kitty Michael International Golf Tournament this weekend. The tournament was founded 39 years ago by the Women’s Puerto Rico Golf Association as a way to keep women in North America and the Eastern Caribbean golfing.

The tournament is hosted at a different course each year. This year St. Croix hosted teams from Bermuda, Montreal, Toronto, Puerto Rico, Florida, and New Jersey. They played two days at Carambola and one day at the Buccaneer.

The tournament tradition is for the host team to purchase gifts for all of the visiting teams; however, this year, the St. Croix women opted to make a charitable gift to the Queen Louise Home for Children in their honor instead. Players chipped in $1,500 and the Carambola Property Owners Association donated another $5,000.

The tournament is great for the island as visiting teams stay at the Buccaneer and spend their free time dining, shopping, and sightseeing.

St. Croix golf team members: Victoria Rosenberg, Linda Condon, Linda Lahm, Diane Burns, Connie Lemco, Rikki Nelthropp, Laura Hyland, Rasa Glengary and Karen King
