West End
The West End is situated around the town of Frederiksted and has just about every island home type you can dream of within its boundaries — beachfront property in the form of condos, villas, single family homes or investment properties, remote rain-forest properties with lots of privacy, rural neighborhoods, and everything in between. Some West End properties are distinguished as “WE” in addresses on MLS listings.
St. Croix’s West End has all the conveniences of home, including banks, grocery stores, a post office, K-Mart West, restaurants and other businesses. You’ll find culture and history around every corner at places like the Whim Plantation Museum and Lawaetz Museum.
The West End is best known for its beaches. Rainbow Beach is a year-round destination for tourists and locals. Water activities, like snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and even some motorized water sports are available at various beaches, as is horseback riding. On the southwest-most corner of the island, Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge is the longest continuous beach in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is a protected leatherback sea turtle nesting area.
“West is Best” is a phrase you’ll hear often on the West End. It’s nearly impossible not to agree when relaxing on the beach, sipping a Cruzan cocktail, or holding your breath for a green flash during a St. Croix sunset.
